Your councillors recently attended a meeting with the new Cabinet Member and officers to discuss progress on the Ebury Bridge development.
The most significant change brought in by the Council’s new Labour administration is that there will be no new ‘intermediate rent’ affordable housing. Under the plans of the previous Conservative administration the scheme would have delivered over 100 intermediate units - these are flats at a discount of more than 30% to market rent which are available for low income workers such as nurses and teachers. Under the new administration’s plans, all the affordable housing will be social rent.
Given the need for housing for key workers in the area we are extremely disappointed to see this change and regret that it will, therefore, be harder for lower income, working people to be able to live in our part of Westminster.
