It was with great sadness that we received the news that our outstanding Member of Parliament, Mark Field, had made the difficult decision not to stand for re-election at the next General Election.
Mark has served the residents of the constituency with unstinting effort since he was first elected as our MP in 2001. Not only has he been an outstanding supporter of local issues, but he has also served the country with great skill across a number of select committees, and more recently at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office as Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific.
Whilst we reluctantly accept Mark’s decision, we respect his reasons for doing so. His integrity and loyalty have been a hallmark throughout his time as our MP.
The Association’s Parliamentary Selection Committee had recently voted in support of his candidacy, and we were all looking forward to campaigning with him, to ensure that CLWCA remains represented by a Conservative Member of Parliament.
Mark remains our Conservative MP until the next election, and of course we wish him well in his next endeavours.
