The Rt Hon Richard Holden
Conservative Party Chairman

Richard Holden MP.

Richard Holden was appointed Chairman of the Conservative Party and Minister without Portfolio in the Cabinet Office on 13 November 2023.

He has served as Member of Parliament for North West Durham since the 2019 general election. He is the first Conservative MP in the constituency's history. Holden served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Roads and Local Transport from October 2022 to November 2023.

Richard started work at Conservative Campaign Headquarters in August 2007, initially as a Data Entry Officer. The following year, he became a Media Monitoring Officer and was a Duty Press Officer from 2008 to 2010. He was Political Press Advisor from 2010 to 2012, and was promoted to Deputy Head of Press in 2012.

Freddie Downing
City & East GLA Candidate

Freddie Downing.

Freddie Downing was born and raised in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He read History at Cambridge University before completing a Masters Degree at Oxford University. In 2016, he started working at Deloitte LLP in London. Whilst there, he qualified as a chartered tax advisor and chartered accountant.

Freddie then went on to join the Legatum Institute, where he served as secretariat to the Race Equality Commission looking at what changes are needed to widen access to opportunity for people from all backgrounds and remove the barriers that stop people from thriving.

When asked why he is standing for the London Assembly, Freddie replied

"City and East has been my home since 2016. The reason I want to be the candidate here is simple: I care about my community and I don’t like what’s happened to it under Sadiq Khan. Between now and May, I will do everything I can to get Khan out of office and elect Susan Hall as Mayor of London."
