Young Conservatives' Summer BBQ & Drinks
On the evening of Wednesday 10th August, the CLWCA welcomed their Young Conservative members to a special summer BBQ & drinks reception at a private outdoor space in SW1. This popular event saw 50 Young Conservatives from across the Association come together for an evening of fun, informal socialising and networking among like-minded young people.
The event featured excellent freshly cooked BBQ food and a large assortment of ciders, ales, lagers and wine. The brilliant summer weather and new garden fairly lights made for a great atmosphere to build the Young Conservative group, and form new relationships between members. We are pleased that as a consequence of the event, several Young Conservatives have come forward to express their interest in joining the committee and in running further group events.
Guests were treated to an appearance from the wonderful London Assembly Member, Emma Best AM, who spoke about the importance of engagement from young people in politics and her own experiences as a young, elected official. Emma then stayed on to chat with guests and answer questions about her work and achievements.
Impressed with the activity and engagement of the group, Emma said
It was fantastic to meet so many of you and hear about your political journeys so far, and hopes for the future. A YC branch like this, where everyone can support each other is invaluable and with continued active participation, I’m sure it will go from strength to strength. I had a wonderful time, and look forward to speaking with many of you in the near future and to seeing the amazing things you’ll achieve.
Two Cities’ Association President, Patrick Evershed CBE echoed Emma’s words by saying
It’s wonderful to see so many young and enthusiastic Conservatives. These bright faces are the future of our party, and it is inspiring to see them coming together to re-form our Young Conservative branch.
