Standards of street cleanliness falling under Labour

Labour's Neglect: Falling Street Standards

The streets of Westminster are being neglected by Labour. We spoke with the Conservative Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Paul Swaddle, to find out more. Paul explained,

Street standards in Westminster have been allowed to decline and residents are paying the price.

Westminster Labour’s record is clear on our streets: overflowing bins, missed collections, litter building up, graffiti normalised, and public spaces looking neglected.

I hear it time and time again when speaking with local people. Labour-led Westminster and Sadiq Khan have failed to keep our city clean and our streets safe.

Missed collections and growing piles of rubbish left for days is not just unpleasant, it's a public health hazard that Westminster Labour have allowed to go unchecked.

The result is simple: it damages our city’s global reputation, shows rules are not being enforced, and lowers the day-to-day standard of the place we call home.

It’s time for a spring clean at Westminster City Council.

Enough of Labour’s excuses and mess: Westminster needs a Conservative Council that gets the basics right and takes street standards seriously.

I have a plan to clean up our City and restore pride in the place we call home.

That starts with a serious approach to enforcement: if elected in May, I will appoint a Cabinet Member for Enforcement to deliver tougher monitoring, faster penalties and make sure rules are backed by real consequences.

My priorities to clean up Westminster:

  • Stronger enforcement on fly tipping and repeat offenders
  • Deliver frequent cleaning and reliable collections with clear accountability and quick action when things are missed.
  • Higher day to day public space standards through better sweeping, graffiti removal and upkeep, so our streets feel clean, safe and well run.

Westminster should be a place where the basics are done properly and local people can take pride in their neighbourhood. That starts with leadership focused on delivery.

A Conservative Westminster City Council will deliver Safe Streets, a Clean City and Real Action.

Support our clean city plan.
