The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, the Rt Hon Oliver Dowden, has written to Nickie to confirm which organisations based in the Two Cities have received funding from the Government’s Coronavirus Community Support Fund.

Launched back in May, the fund, worth £750 million, has provided much needed emergency support to charities and third sector organisations across the UK to enable them to continue their vital work during in the wake of COVID-19. Many charities and third sector organisations have seen their revenue been severely affected by the pandemic.

The scheme that the government has put in pace is one of the most generous in the world and by far the most generous in Europe for charities and the third sector.

Commenting on the support that has been given by the government to charities and the third sector Nickie Aiken MP said,

“This year has been particularly tough for charities and third sector organisations. While donations to them have fallen many have found the demand for the work, they do greater than ever before.

The support that the government is providing, to both local and national organisations across the Two Cities, is critical to that support continuing. It will make a real difference to people’s lives.”

You can read the letter that the Secretary of State has sent to Nickie here, which includes details which organisations have received funding and how much they have been granted.
