For some residents near Hyde Park, amplified rock ruined too many evenings this summer. In small flats in blocks like St George's Fields, with open walkways, the noise was impossible to escape. Many residents told us they could not believe the decibel limit was being respected.
Cllrs JP Floru and Heather Acton gave evidence to the Royal Parks licensing review and, together with Antonia, have made residents' concerns clear to the Royal Parks on many occasions, including meetings with chief executive Linda Lennon. There will be fewer concerts next summer, with the current plan only six of the nine allowed under the revised licence. The decibel limit has also been lowered and a new bass restriction imposed.
