Westminster Conservatives have successfully renewed the car club scheme with Zipcar, bringing residents continued savings and environmental benefits.
The scheme enables use of cars parked in on-street places across the city and throughout Greater London.
The two year renewal means that Westminster residents and businesses can continue to join at a discount rate of £25 for the first year and enjoy one hour's free parking with each hire.
Conservative Councillor Daniel Astaire, Westminster City Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, said: “We are pleased to continue our partnership with Zipcar and we have ambitious plans to increase membership of the scheme and use of the current fleet of vehicles."
As well as saving residents money, the car club has also helped to reduce car ownership in the city, helping to bring down congestion and carbon emissions.
According to a survey from CarPlus, 39% of Westminster Car Club members have sold at least one private vehicle since joining the scheme.
Cllr Daniel Astaire said: “This scheme is a win/win situation, offering great benefits to individual drivers in Westminster and improving the local environment for everyone. It's a great example of the work your Conservatives are doing to save you money and improve Westminster at the same time."
