Virtual Tour: Engineering Change in the City of London
Join us on this virtual tour which celebrates the relationship between engineering and the City. London is an international city in a continual state of growth and development. Mechanical, electrical and civil engineering ventures have solved its problems and changed its appearance.
Some of these ventures are familiar to us. They gave us the tunnels beneath our streets and the bridges spanning our river. Others are less familiar. Down a small alleyway was once to be found the hub of British telecommunications.
Though largely gone, there are still some remains of a plan to keep Londoners permanently off the streets. Engineering is an unusual aspect of the City's story and is central. It has made today's City what it is and will continue to do so.
We are delighted that our tour will be led, once again, by David Charnick PhD, a qualified City of London Guide and a member of the City of London Guide Lecturers Association.
This is a virtual tour hosted live via Zoom video conferencing, where David will show slides and give a talk to accompany them. There will be the opportunity for questions both during and after the talk.
Tickets are £10 per person
