We are delighted to welcoming former Westminster Councillor and current MP for North West Hampshire, the Rt Hon Kit Malthouse MP to join us for Drinks and Canapés on Wednesday 24 September.

Kit - Boris Johnson's former Deputy Mayor of London and a Crime and Justice Minister - will share his reflections on the state of the Labour government, the Labour Mayor and Labour Westminster Council, as we gear up to win back Westminster in 2026.

Our venue, a luxury hotel a short walk from the parliamentary estate, will be shared with attendees 48 hours beforehand.

Rt Hon Kit Malthouse MP

About Kit

Genetically a Yorkshireman, but a scouser by birth and upbringing, Kit migrated to London for an exciting life as a Chartered Accountant after a degree in Politics and Economics from Newcastle University. Realising early he was essentially unemployable, he co-founded a successful finance business, which he still owns today, nearly 30 years later.

Kit has been an elected politician since 1998, first at Westminster Council, where he was Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, and then on the London Assembly, where, as Deputy Mayor for Policing working with the Met Police and Boris Johnson, he drove down crime in London, with particular impact on knife crime and teenage killings. Re-elected to the Assembly in 2012, he became Deputy Mayor for Business & Enterprise, helping to steer the capital’s business community to make the most of the Olympic Games while establishing London as a leading biomedical research centre and the No. 1 destination for global tourism.

First elected to Parliament in 2015 as MP for North West Hampshire, Kit spent time on the Treasury Select Committee before being appointed a minister at DWP. A year as Housing Minister followed, before he was appointed to the cabinet as Minister of State for Crime and Justice at the Home Office and Ministry of Justice. In the period following Boris Johnson’s resignation as Prime Minister, Kit was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster with responsibility for the Cabinet Office, preparing government for a new PM, and then as Secretary of State for Education by Liz Truss. He declined a position in Rishi Sunak’s cabinet and returned to the backbenches in October 2022.

Kit is married with three children and spends his spare time sailing, walking the dog and chauffeuring his children around.
