Wednesday 13th March 2019: Drinks Reception with Tom Tugendhat MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee
The CLWCA Francophone Group and Churchill ward Conservatives are delighted to invite you to an evening Drinks Reception with Tom Tugendhat MP.
Tom was elected MP for Tonbridge & Malling in 2015 and was re-elected in the 2017 General Election with 63.6% share of the vote. He was subsequently elected Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in July 2017. Tom left the British Army in July 2013 after a career in which he served on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and, most recently, as the military assistant to the Chief of the Defence Staff. As a Territorial Army office he worked on everything from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan to establishing the Armed Forces Muslim Association. He also worked for the Foreign Office and helped set up the National Security Council of Afghanistan and the government in Helmand Province.
Tom was brought up in London and Sellinge before reading Theology at Bristol University. He then studied for a Masters’ degree in Islamics at Cambridge University which included learning Arabic in Yemen.
In addition to Chairing the Foreign Affairs Committee Tom serves on the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art, the Liaison Committee and the Joint National Security Strategy Committee.
