Churchill

About our ward

We are the long thin ward, the one on the western edge of our constituency. We stretch from the river all the way to lower Belgravia. We have a high proportion of social housing, but we have people living in every sort of accommodation, from a large estate like Churchill Gardens to the white stucco villas of Thomas Cubitt.

With our varied social events, our canvassing and our leafleting, we hope to extend our reach to everyone in the ward.

Westminster Matters: Leader's Update March 2019

Westminster Matters: An update from Cllr Nickie Aiken, Leader of Westminster City Council

It has been an incredibly busy time since I last updated you on the work of Conservative-run Westminster City Council.

Parking on Estates and new Traffic Orders

Parking enforcement on Council estates is to be transferred to the Council’s parking enforcement teams under a ‘Traffic Management Order’ (TMO), starting with Churchill Gardens in April. Existing permit holders will be guaranteed a replacement permit at no extra charge.

A supporting hand for those sleeping on the streets

Sadly we continue to see an increase in the number of rough sleepers on our streets. Westminster attracts more than the next four boroughs combined. Being the “capital of the capital” has always meant more people bedding down on our streets.

Ebury Bridge Estate: More homes and Community spaces

Westminster Council is accelerating its home-building programme in Churchill Ward with Phase 1 of Ebury Bridge estate renewal set to deliver 216 flats, including 130 replacement social rent homes.

Nine Elms Bridge update

Wandsworth Council has come up with proposals to land the Nine Elms-Pimlico bridge on Grosvenor Road, near Churchill Gardens estate. Westminster City Council opposes this plan, especially given widespread concerns and objections raised by local people.

Pimlico Farmers Market

Supporting local businesses is one of my key priorities. I was delighted to help give certainty and a long-term future to Pimlico Road Farmers Market in Orange Square.

Christmas in Churchill

We had a wonderful Christmas in our part of Westminster with many events and celebrations across the community.
